Anger Management for Men

Participants discover the sources and triggers of anger and learn productive ways to cope and respond to life challenges.

Boundaries

Facilitator: Todd Poe LPC/LMFT – Room 230

Based on the book Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend, this group explores what boundaries are and how to set them in healthy ways. Participants learn to recognize their own boundary issues and how they impact the relationships they have. Boundaries is open to anyone interested in improving their family, romantic, or social relationships.

Depression and Bipolar Support Group

This informational class helps dispel myths, reduce fears, and support those dealing with depressive illnesses. Sponsored by Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance.

Divorce Recovery I

Divorce Recovery I provides initial support and direction for those who have been or are in the midst of separation or divorce. An experienced Christian counselor leads group discussions.

 

Divorce Recovery II

Facilitators: Charlotte Pertree and Jim Rutherford – Room 228

Divorce Recovery II is a 13-week video/discussion group addressing issues associated with divorce and separation. Topics include depression, loneliness, financial survival, and forgiveness.

Divorce Recovery III—Reaching the New Normal

Facilitators: Turner Mann and Sharon Bolt – Room 223

Reformatted specifically for those who have completed Divorce Recovery I & II, topics covered include: Where do I fit in with the church, family, and social relationships? How do I not repeat the mistakes of my past? How do I know if I am ready to date again? What do I do with negative thoughts? and other topics that assist participants in experiencing their “New Normal” in life.

Foster Family Support Group

Meets 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month.

This group is designed to provide support and education for parents who are fostering children and teens or beginning the process of fostering.

GriefShare I

This 13-week video series offers valuable information combined with group discussion to support and encourage those dealing with grief.

How People Grow

Facilitator: Chris Helterbrand – Room 236

This group is designed for people who are ready to move beyond crisis mode in their life and experience the fulfilling life that God desires for them. Participants learn what it takes to increase strength and depth in their spiritual walk, family life, friendships, and personal development as they explore the essential processes that lead to growth.

Infertility Support Group

Meets 1st & 3rd Mondays of the month.

This group, open to individuals and couples, provides a safe environment to addresses the many challenges faced when dealing with Infertility. Utilizing The Infertility Companion: Hope and Help for Couples Facing Infertility by Sandra L. Glahn, Th.M. & William R. Cutrer, M.D., topics covered include the emotional aspects of infertility, potential impact of infertility on marriage, handling well-intentioned advice from others, finding hope in the midst of struggle, addressing spiritual dynamics as an individual and couple, and other topics important to the journey of infertility.

Love and Logic Parenting

Facilitator: Ron Mahn LPC/LMFT – Room 232

Parents gain insight and support in raising their children using the Love and Logic principals. This program provides simple and easyto-use techniques to help parents have more fun and less stress while raising responsible kids of all ages.

Making Peace with Your Past

A study of Forgiveness – Facilitators: Jim Webb and Marylin Ingmire – Room 222

All of us have suffered painful emotional and relational hurts. God calls us to forgive those who have hurt us, but that’s often easier said than done. This group explores why we forgive, how to engage the process of forgiveness, what forgiveness is and is not, and the role of reconciliation.

Miscarriage and Infant Loss Support Group

Facilitators: Carol Moore and Kortni Howerton – Chapel Hearth Room (156)

Meets from 6:30-8 p.m. on the 2nd & 4th Mondays

This support group is designed to specifically address the needs of those who are grieving a miscarriage or loss of an infant. Through teaching and sharing, this group offers a safe place to explore the many emotions created by grief, to gain practical ways to walk through the grief process, and to receive support and encouragement from others who have experienced similar circumstances.

The Next Chapter (for women)

Facilitators: Cherie Short and Dale Acker – Room 233

This group is for women who have found themselves entering the world of “singleness”, because of divorce, death of a spouse, or other life circumstances. Participants explore ways to engage their life with Christ while learning to embrace the future with a renewed sense of purpose and direction.

Next Step for Men

Facilitator: Jerry Bickle – Room 224

A group designed specifically for men who are serious about experiencing growth in their life and in their relationships. This group offers support and encouragement as you pursue the life God desires for you to live.

Safe People

Facilitator: Skip McKinstry – Room 225

Based on the book Safe People by Cloud and Townsend, this in-depth, 13-week study looks at ways to make wise choices in relationships from friendship to romance. Participants discover how to avoid repeating their own relational mistakes and how to pick safe, healthy people for the friends they make and the company they keep.

Survivors of Suicide (SOS)

Facilitator: Cindy Rose – Room 231

This group offers support to anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide. Through education and sharing, participants learn to cope with the mix of confusing emotions suicide can leave behind, experience encouragement from an understanding community, and find new hope for the future.

A Woman’s Heart

Facilitator: Danette McCorkle LMFT – Room 226

This group, designed specifically for women, addresses issues such as anxiety, stress, self-worth, interpersonal relationships, and communication skills. Through education and sharing, women are given an opportunity to explore these areas while addressing the needs and desires of the heart.

Becoming One in ReMarriage

Facilitators: Gordon & Carri Taylor – Room 237

Ten-week session (as scheduled) — see schedule; registration required

This Christ-centered course is designed for couples considering remarriage, already remarried, or marring with children. Learn specific dynamics that impact remarrying couples and the stepfamily unit. Cost: $100 per couple.

Thursdays

Celebrate Recovery

Meets 6:30-8:30 p.m. – Atrium

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program led by trained individuals who help participants heal from the hurts, habits and hang-ups in their lives, using the eight biblical principles found in the Beatitudes (from Matthew 5) and the traditional 12 Steps. Childcare is available for children under four years; LifeTools for Kids is available for children four years through 6th grade.

Becoming One in Marriage

Meets 10:45 a.m. – 12 noon – Room 243

Eight-week session (as scheduled) — see schedule; registration required

Couples considering engagement are strongly encouraged to use the course as an aid in the decision-making process. Because we believe strongly that couples should prepare for life after the wedding, all couples desiring a Crossings pastor to perform their ceremony are required to participate in this course. Couples unable to attend the eight-week course can substitute sessions covering similar topics in the premarital series with a professional Christian counselor.
