Baptism & Child Dedication

Evening Baptism Service – Sunday, June 3 at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary – Christian baptism is a symbolic act that represents the new life one has found in following Jesus.

What is Christian baptism?

Christian baptism is a symbolic act that represents the new life one has found in following Jesus. It symbolizes the washing away of an old way of life. It symbolizes new birth into a life with Christ. It represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the new believer. Christian baptism is the outward sign of an inward change.

Is Christian baptism the same as salvation?

No. Baptism is simply the outward sign of something that has happened within one’s life.

Is Christian baptism required for church membership?

No. At Crossings, anyone who has decided to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and who has become involved in the life of this church is considered a member.

When should I be baptized?

We encourage anyone who has chosen to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to be baptized. This is a significant event in your life, and it is important that your church family celebrate your new life with you.

When is the next baptism service?

Baptisms are held during the 9:30 am and 11 am Sanctuary worship services on the 2nd and 3rd Sunday of every month. If you are interested in being baptized, contact Courtney Cartwright, Assistant Director of Special Events.

Parent and Child Dedication

What is parent/child dedication?

Parent/child dedication at Crossings is a commitment for parents. It is recognition of your solemn responsibility to raise your child in a Christian home and a church where he or she may come to know Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior. The dedication provides you, as a parent, an opportunity to make this commitment public before God, your friends, and family. In this dedication, Crossings Community Church also commits to provide a loving, teaching community with fellowship, counseling, and prayer for your family.

Is parent/child dedication the same as infant baptism?

Child dedication at Crossings Community Church is not infant baptism. We do not offer baptism prior to a person’s choosing to believe in Christ.

How can I dedicate myself and my child?

All parents interested in dedicating their children are asked to attend a one-hour parent/child class, held on certain Sunday mornings during the 9:30 am hour. Once parents have taken the class, they can have their child dedicated on any dedication services offered after the class they have taken. To register for a class, contact Susan Aldredge.
